Of love and silence…
Synopsis:
In the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan, a Baloch widow named Beeban decides to keep silent and not to speak anymore. She lives in her father-in-law’s house with her son, Miran. When her childhood playmate, Hamraz, returns home, once again they begin feeling in the mood for love. But everyone tries to force her to forget all about this forbidden love…
Director’s View:
As a woman filmmaker, in my first film, I had two important issues to focus on: love and silence. These are the two vital elements underlining the importance of life and words, but it seems that both of them are tragically forgotten in our times.
In the lack of love and silence, the movies have also damaged different races all through the history. In Iranian cinema, the Baloch ethnic community has been always depicted as a violent race unjustifiably. So in THE SUN OF THAT MOON, we did our best to present a realistic picture of them, their culture, the environment, the music, the arts, the colors and the aromas surrounding them…
