A Post-Taliban Tale, THE DOGS DIDN’T SLEEP LAST NIGHT, to compete in Sao Paulo

Ramin Rasouli’s second feature film, THE DOGS DIDN’T SLEEP LAST NIGHT, will be a part of the New Filmmakers Competition in the 45^th edition of Sao Paulo International Film Festival (October 21^st to November 3^rd, 2021 / Brazil).

The Afghanistan / Iran coproduction, which was premiered in the main competition in International Film Festival of India – Goa 2021 and received the Interfaith Prize at Fajr International Film Festival 2021, is an intertwined narrative focusing on the stories of a teacher and two students who survived after school fire conducted by the militia after the fall of Taliban. Through three episodes, following up the themes of giving shelter to a wanted person, living under the night raids of the villain gunfighters and seeking vengeance in the vast deserts of Afghanistan, the film is built up as a neo western unfolding that how insecurity, betrayal and corruption ate the souls of the people in post-Taliban era.
