Synopsis:
Trapped in a dim, hopeless world, forty-something-year old Amir lives his dull, routine life day by day. He has lost his mother a long time ago and got no one but a father in an asylum. He doesn’t think of anything else – even his fruitless love to an Afghan girl, Yasna, in the years of adolescence to middle-agedness. One day, he hears about Yasna in an office. He follows some clues to find her, but he finds out his old love is stolen by the smugglers. Amir decides to begin searching for Yasna…
Director’s View:
When starting to work on the script, the writers and I tried to tell a naturalistic story in a naturalistic atmosphere. In this setting, we tried to depict the confrontation of man and the nature to underline the endless conflict of man and the destiny…
Director’s Profile:
Born in 1986 in Tabriz, Navid Esmaeili has been active as actor and director on the stage, in the movies and in the TV productions. Despite his childhood love for theatre and performance, he was always prohibited by his traditional family to pursue his love. When he was 17, he married Saeedeh Hamidi. Two years later, he decided to enter the world of cinema and study it academically and at last, graduated in Directing. Since then, he has worked continuously with Hamidi as producer / production manager of his different ventures. In 2021, Esmaeili made his debut feature film, FLOOR 1.5 – which is not shown anywhere yet! PAKOL is his second feature length film.
