KILLING A TRAITOR goes to Zanzibar 2024

In the 27th Zanzibar International Film Festival – Festival of the Dhow Countries (August 1st to 4th, 2024 / United Republic of Tanzania), KILLING A TRAITOR, latest film by Masoud Kimiai, one of the two launchers of Iranian New Wave, is a part of the official selection.

Kimiai made his second feature-length film, QAISAR, in 1969 and made a great impact on the Iranian audience with a story of a personal revenge and rebellion in a society characterized with injustice and inequality. His long journey in the search for freedom has been a controversial one, highlighted with such milestones in Iranian Cinema History as REZA THE MOTORCYCLIST (1970), THE DEER (1974), JOURNEY OF THE STONE (1978), THE RED LINE (1982), THE LEAD (1989), SNAKE’S FANG (1990), THE SULTAN (1997), PROTEST (2000), etc., which has establish his status inside the country as one of the most beloved cineastes, both by the critics and the public.

His film, KILLING A TRAITOR, has been previously screened at IFF Rotterdam 2023 (Harbour Section), Wales IFF 2023 (Best Foreign Language Film Nominee) and Golden Femi FF 2024 (Historical Excellence in Storytelling Award).
