Synopsis:

Setareh, a widow who lost her job, starts working in a nursing home. Finding out that it’s her last chance to give birth to her own baby, she begins desperately seeking a husband. Through her confrontations with the fanatic landlord and his wife (a victim of the domestic violence), her former ex-coworker (a victim of acid attack), a woman street singer (a victim of the limitations), two religious matchmakers, a widowed suitor, a married suitor, a bullying head nurse and an old woman living with dementia, she is portrayed on her path to falling for a cab driver who is haunted by the memories of her dead wife and daughter (another victim of the limitations)…

Director’s View:

In Iran, we are under pressure, coming from a radical minority, imposing their ideas to the majority. So it looks like that when I, as a filmmaker, intend to talk about the women suffering from the bans on singing and playing and watching football, the acid attacks, the wife-beating and the consumerism, I should be put in the prison – and unfortunately it might happen so easily! After what we witnessed all around the country, I only try to underline the point that we should respect Iranian women more and more…

Director’s Profile:

Born in 1981 in Mashhad, Ebrahim Irajzad studied cinema and made seven short films. In 2017, he directed his debut feature, SEARING SUMMER, which was premiered in Stockholm IFF. His second feature film, KILLER SPIDER, focusing on the story of a fanatic serial killer in Mashhad, started its way into the international circuit at Busan IFF 2020.
