JUNKS & DOLLS to compete in Matera FF 2024
In the 5th edition of Matera Film Festival (November 3rd to 10th, 2024 / Italy), Manijeh Hekmat’s JUNKS & DOLLS, will be a part of Feature Film Competition program.
JUNKS & DOLLS is a tale of love; loving each other and loving the nature. In our times, when some people embark on wars against the people and the environment, there is no way to stop the destruction but by trusting in the sustainability. In order to depict the world surrounding us, Hekmat has shot her film in a real landfill, swallowing the northern forests in Iran.
The film has previously participated in Kolkata International Film Festival 2023 (Special Screening), International Film Festival of Kerala 2023 (World Cinema), Dhaka International Film Festival 2024 (Best Film Award in the Women Filmmakers Competition), Women’s International Film Festival – India 2024 (World Cinema), Phoenix Film Festival 2024 (World Cinema Competition), SIEFF – Seoul International Eco Film Festival 2024 (International Competition), Galway Film Fleadh 2024 (World Cinema Competition), Frames of Freedom Film Festival 2024 (Iran Focus Program), Kinoshock Film Festival 2024 (Feature Film Competition), BIAFF – Batumi International Art Film Festival 2024 (Feature Film Competition) and Asian Film Festival Barcelona 2024 (NETPAC Competition).
