MORSE in Starling FF 2024

Ronak Jafari’s second short film, MORSE, is selected to be a part of the 3rd edition of Starling Film Festival (October 28th to November 3rd, 2024 / UK).

Focusing on the tragic side of the story of ratting out a comrade during the investigations, Jafari builds up a mokumentary structure in order to travel into a delirious atmosphere, moving the boundaries of the reality and the nightmare all through the film. The existentialist venture is enhanced by the stylistic devises such as shooting primarily by candlelight, using the eerie original score and utilizing “The Last Supper” composition when searching for a modern version of Judas the Betrayer.

The film has previously entered the official selection of Jacksonville FF 2023, Phoenix FF 2023, Imedghassen FF 2023 (Best Script Nomination), FICIP – International Political Film Festival 2023, ImagineIndia IFF 2023 (Winner of the 2nd Prize in the Best Short Film category), IFF of Adoor 2023 (Special Screenings), Sussex IFF 2023 (Semi-finalist), Macau ISFF 2023 (Best Music Award to Payam Azadi), Iranian Film Festival in New York – IrFFNY 2024, Kalakari FF 2024, Fernando di Leo Short FF 2024 and Twelve Lions FF 2024.
