MAMAN, THE SUN OF THAT MOON and THE 4TH ROUND to compete in Les Rimbaud du Cinema 2022

Three Iranian films, including Arash Aneessee’s MAMAN, Setareh Eskandari’s THE SUN OF THAT MOON and Alireza Amini’s THE 4TH ROUND, will be part of Feature Film Competition program at the 4th Les Rimbaud du Cinema (October 18th to 22nd, 2022 / France), a festival established by independent cineastes to discover the invisible films created by talented  and visionary filmmakers on tight budgets which could be fading after the festival season. The festival is named after Arthur Rimbaud who changed the landscape of poetry forever, emphasizing on his words, “What can I say? – in a terrible way I insist on worshipping freedom.” and celebrating Gilles Deleuze’s saying, “Art is an act of resistance.”

Focusing on the tragic destinies of women, working as living mannequins in a contemporary society, suffering from consumerist syndrome and gender-based abuse, Alireza Amini’s new film, THE 4TH ROUND has been shown in Within the Family International Film Festival 2021 (The Best Actress Award and the Best Cinematography Award), Wales International Film Festival 2021 (Finalist – Best Foreign Language Film Category), Barcelona Asian Film Festival 2021 (Official Panorama Section), Santa Cruz International Film Festival 2022 (Competition) and Lucania Film Festival (Audience Award for the Best Feature-length Fiction Film).

Following the story of life of a lonely mother working as a taxi driver, trying to rule over his sons by making them distant from each other after losing whatever she had in the course of the big changes in her homeland, Arash Aneessee’s MAMAN has been presented in Fajr National Film Festival 2021 (Best Actress Award), International Film Festival of India – Goa 2021 (Debut Competition Entry), Chennai International Film Festival 2021, Moscow International Film Festival 2022 and Wales International Film Festival 2022 (Finalist – Best Foreign Language Film Award).

Depicting an ill-fated widow, searching for love as sole motivation in life in a repressive community and choosing the silence as her way to deal with a society, ruled under traditions, superstitions, prejudice and patriarchy, Setareh Eskandari’s debut feature film, THE SUN OF THAT MOON, has participated in International Film Festival of India – Goa 2021 (World Panorama), Iranian Film Festival Zurich 2022 (Opening Film) and Within the Family International Film Festival 2022 (Main Competition).
